Mobiliy has come in the “Achiles heel” of the fight against climate change, since it still is a growing-emission economic sector, despite the policies already designed and implemented. However, the undesired effects of the current mobility model do not end there. These undesired consequences in the cities go far beyond greenhouse gas emissions. Local atmospheric pollution, lowered public health standards, insecurity, lack of equity and bad urban habitability are also issues of great concern. In this context, comes to no surprise that cycling, which was a very popular means of transportation before and after WWII, is experimenting a sort of Renaissance in many cities to tackle these problems. This issue of Habitat y Sociedad journal pretends to contribute to this debate, containing papers that explore the emergence of cycling mobility in cities in order to solve these problems, as well as deeply discuss the role of cycling in order to give an input to the development of a sustainable, healthy and fair urban mobility system.

Hábitat y Sociedad is a scientific journal of the Seville University Press, with international arbitration, of annual periodicity, which is published in November.
It is aimed at the dissemination of papers that contribute to a complex understanding of the social habitat, prioritizing research on participatory processes of Social Production and Social Management of the Habitat for the achievement of the right to the city and the recovery of balance with the ecosystem.
It is an interdisciplinary journal insofar as we understand social habitat as a complex concept that is generated by the dynamic interaction of physical, social, cultural, economic, legal, environmental and political situations, on scales that go from housing to territory.
