Abstract

This article reports on the experience developed in Plastic Expression in the Infant and Primary Education grades, whose main objective is to make contact with the pictorial and sculptural work of outstanding female authors of the 20th century avant-garde in Europe and America and to make their contribution, as women and artists, to the History of Art visible. Through group work and prior study, the first-year students of both degrees created versions of outstanding works on canvas or small sculptures, as a way of recreating them, but contributing their own messages and formats. These projects were taken up by a group of third year Infant Education pupils who selected the works they had produced to put together an educational exhibition visited by 5 year olds. By means of inquiry-based learning, the interpretation and recreation of significant works of art, peer correction and the design of didactic applications, the aim was to carry out the whole process followed in the university classroom. The intervention has allowed us to deal with the treatment of information, the importance of the process in the artistic experience, both from the value of the sketches and all the technical and conceptual problems that appear, as well as tackling the difficulty of promoting artistic and creative experience in the infant stage, its possibilities and problems. The level of skills required has been evaluated in a compensated way as well as the degree of involvement of the pupils, in addition to the degree of understanding of the importance of women in the plastic arts and the technical learning and didactic application of the process.
