Code of ethics

Cuestiones Pedagógicas is committed to ensuring compliance with the ethical and deontological principles of the editorial process. The journal adopts the Code of Conduct for Journal Editors (COPE, 2011, 2019)[2], the White Paper on Promoting Integrity in Scientific Journal Publication (SSC, 2012)[3] and the Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers (COPE, 2018)[4] as its references.

Commitments

The Editorial Board will:

  • Publish data regarding the results of the peer review process and the evaluation criteria for acceptance or rejection of the articles received.
  • Decide on the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript as a result of the assessment of its quality, relevance, pertinence, originality, clarity and adequacy to the thematic lines of the journal.
  • Settle possible conflicts or disputes that may exist in the evaluation process.
  • Ensure the quality of the articles published.
  • Notify the interested parties about the corrections, clarifications, and apologies when necessary.
  • Adopt an anti-plagiarism policy and sanction any conduct (fabrication, falsification or omission of data and plagiarism) that violates the ethical and deontological principles of scientific research.

Authors will:

  • Disclose any conflicts of a financial or other interest that might influence the results or interpretation of your manuscript.
  • Acknowledge all sources of financial support received for the publication of the article.
  • Notify the Editor-in-Chief of errors in the text eligible for publication or when it has been published.
  • Follow the journal publishing criteria.

Reviewers will:

  • Inform the Editor-in-Chief of any conflicts of interest and refuse to evaluate manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.
  • Inform the Editor-in-Chief of the suitability and/or availability to review a manuscript in the time allotted.
  • Follow the reviewers protocol established by the Editorial Board.
  • Provide a report justifying the reasons for rejecting a manuscript.

Editorial freedom and integrity

The Editorial Board

  • Assume responsibility and authorship for the content of the journal in accordance with the established editorial policy, preserving the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors from any interference or external pressure that could alter or condition the journal's editorial.
  • Promote and ensure the integrity of the whole publishing process.
  • Apply anti-plagiarism measures and sanctions all those practices that violate the ethical principles assumed by the journal.
  • Enjoy total freedom for the editorial process, within the limits established by the ethical principles and code of good practice to which the journal adheres to.

Authors will:

  • Guarantee that the work is original and has not been previously published. The results of doctoral thesis and other research work.
  • Send a letter of commitment to the Editorial Board, indicating that the contribution is unpublished, conforming the authorship and that all data have been ethically obtained.
  • Duly reference all the quotations included in the manuscript. A person is considered to be the author when has actively participated in i) the conception and design, or analysis and interpretation of the data; ii) the writing or elaboration of the draft of the article; iii) the critical review of the relevant intellectual content; iv) the supervision of the final version of the work to be published. Each author will have contributed sufficiently to the preparation of the article so that he/she can take public responsibility for its content.
  • Faithfully reflect the attribution of authorship of the article, respecting the order of authorship. Researchers with minor contributions will be listed in the acknowledgements.
  • Refrain from sending the article sent to Cuestiones Pedagógicas to another journal while it is being evaluated. In the event that, If you wich to waive your contrinbuition form the evaluation process, please… the evaluation process, you must promptly notify it to the Editor-in-Chief.

Reviewers will:

  • Refrain from using insider information or ideas obtained through peer review to satisfy personal interests.
  • Demand Editorial Board the protocols, records and sources of the original data held by the authors in the event that they wish to check the validity of the article submitted for evaluation.
  • Prepare evaluation reports of the articles with clarity, valid arguments, impartiality, honesty, and respectfully.
  • Only accept the evaluation of those articles related to their field of specialization.
  • Respect the deadlines set by the journal for the review of articles.

Transparency

The Editorial Board will:

  • Respond diligently and courteously to any complaints from the authors, always offering them a reasoned response.
  • Describe the evaluation process to the authors and, if necessary, inform them of any changes in this process.
  • Duly inform the author of the stage of the editorial process at which the submitted text is, as well as send the evaluation reports of the peer reviewers.
  • Not allow editorial practices that violate the transparency and objectivity of the editorial process neither self-citations, quotations of exchange between groups of authors and citations that reference, without justification, the journal.
  • Send the evaluation reports of the article to corresponding author.
  • Notify the reviewers the final decisions regarding the article they have reviewed. This will be done by the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Annually publish the number of articles submitted, the number accepted for publication in the journal, as well as those rejected.
  • Publish at the end of the year, provided they have obtained prior consent, the names and affiliation of the external reviewers.

The Authors will: 

  • Acknowledge the sources of funding for the research, including direct and indirect financial support, provision of equipment or materials or any other type of help.

Reviewers will:

  • Communicate the Editorial Board objective written information on the scientific assessment of the work.

Confidentiality

The Editorial Board will:

  • Ensure that the information accompanying each manuscript or mail received is treated confidentially.
  • Refrain from disseminating information on articles received, except for the corresponding author, the reviewers, and the associated editors.
  • Ensure anonymity during the whole article evaluation process.

Authors will:

  • Ensure that the identity of the authors of the article is protected, following the protocol for sending articles established by the journal.

Reviewers will:

  • The journal applies a double-blind evaluation system that guarantees the anonymity of authors and reviewers.
