A Educação de Adultos e a Virada Estética: (Re)imaginando um Mundo em Apuros

Vivemos num mundo profundamente perturbado pelo capitalismo patriarcal global que colocou vidas em perigo e tornou extremamente difícil o trabalho crítico de educação de adultos. Baseando-nos em teorias da imaginação e na necessidade de um imaginário diferente, exploramos a viragem estética na educação de adultos e, especificamente, como os educadores de adultos no Canadá e em todo o mundo estão a mobilizar abordagens criativas e baseadas nas artes para abordar questões sociais e (re)imaginar quem são as pessoas e o que podem ver, ouvir e saber. Centramo-nos em diversos exemplos de trabalho com populações marginalizadas em diferentes contextos e instituições, tais como comunidades, museus, bibliotecas e universidades. Exploramos a forma como as práticas estéticas reconfiguram a perceção, perturbam os silêncios, olham para trás para pensar no futuro, desalojam as fixações do senso comum, promovem a democracia cultural e democratizam a cultura. Ao explorar uma diversidade de práticas e locais, ilustramos a variedade e o âmbito das práticas e ênfases pedagógicas estéticas. Embora o trabalho educativo estético não possa, por si só, mudar o mundo, defendemos que ele sustenta o objetivo social crítico do nosso campo ao promover novas competências para ver, conhecer, identificar, visualizar, historicizar e democratizar em prol de um mundo justo para todos.
