L'educazione degli adulti e la svolta estetica: (Ri)immaginare un mondo in difficoltà

Abstract

Viviamo in un mondo profondamente turbato dal capitalismo patriarcale globale che ha messo in pericolo vite umane e reso estremamente difficile il lavoro di educazione critica degli adulti. Basandoci sulle teorie dell'immaginazione e sulla necessità di un immaginario diverso, esploriamo la svolta estetica nell'educazione degli adulti e, nello specifico, come gli educatori per adulti in Canada e nel mondo stiano mobilitando approcci creativi e artistici per affrontare i problemi sociali e (ri)immaginare chi sono le persone e cosa possono vedere, ascoltare e conoscere. Ci concentriamo su diversi esempi di lavoro con popolazioni emarginate in diversi contesti e istituzioni, come comunità, musei, biblioteche e università. Esploriamo come le pratiche estetiche riconfigurino la percezione, interrompano i silenzi, guardino al passato per pensare al futuro, smontino le fissazioni del senso comune, promuovano la democrazia culturale e democratizzino la cultura. Esplorando una diversità di pratiche e di luoghi, illustriamo la varietà e la portata delle pratiche e delle enfasi pedagogiche estetiche. Sebbene il lavoro educativo estetico da solo non possa cambiare il mondo, sosteniamo che esso sostiene lo scopo sociale critico del nostro campo promuovendo nuove competenze per vedere, conoscere, identificare, visualizzare, storicizzare e democratizzare ai fini di un mondo giusto per tutti.
