Las amistades infantiles: Desarrollo, funciones y pautas de intervención en la escuela

Las relaciones de amistad son fundamentales en el desarrollo intelectual, afectivo y social de las personas a lo largo de todo el ciclo vital. En este artículo se analizan dos aspectos claves de este tipo de relaciones: en primer lugar, las funciones que desempeñan las amistades entre compañeros en los procesos de socialización y, globalmente, en todo el desarrollo psicológico durante la infancia y adolescencia, destacando sus contribuciones en algunos aspectos del desarrollo de la personalidad como la autoestima, autoeficacia, habilidades en la interacción social, control de la agresión y resolución de conflictos interpersonales; y, en segundo lugar, se plantean las posibilidades de intervención por parte de los educadores para fomentar y favorecer la creación de amistades entre los niños a través de la práctica educativa.
