Alfabetizaciones en la escuela. Hablar, pensar y escribir a través de la televisión y el periódico

Este trabajo explora cómo los medios de comunicación pueden convertirse en un instrumento desde el que establecer puentes entre el hogar y la escuela. Asumimos que es necesario establecer esas relaciones en cuanto que las personas han de poner en práctica fuera de la escuela algunas de las habilidades que adquieren en ella, especialmente, las relacionadas con la alfabetización. Para reflexionar sobre estas cuestiones tomamos como punto de partida las prácticas que durante un periodo aproximado de tres meses los niños y las niñas de cuarto curso de EGB, su maestra y dos investigadoras llevamos a cabo en un taller de escritura en el que preparamos un número monográfico sobre la televisión para ser publicado en un periódico local. A partir de algunos ejemplos discutimos tres cuestiones fundamentales relacionadas con la alfabetización: las relaciones entre el código escrito y el audiovisual, el papel de la lengua oral como instrumento de aprendizaje y, finalmente, cómo ningún tipo de discurso puede considerarse independiente del marco social y cultural en el que se genera.
