Open Access Policies

This journal provides immediate free access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public contributes to a greater exchange of global knowledge. It is free of charge for both authors and readers, follows peer review policies, and respects the copyright of its contributors, with Creative Commons 4.0 licences. It therefore meets the DIAMOND criteria for Open Science publication.

It is managed on the principles of open access to knowledge. It is in line with the National Open Science Strategy (ENCA-Spain). This initiative is in line with art. 37 of the Spainsh Law of Science and art. 12 of the Spanish Organic Law of the University System, which define scientific knowledge as a common good and establish the need for public administrations and universities to actively promote and contribute to it. In fact, the LOSU makes it compulsory for teaching and research staff to deposit a copy of the final accepted version of their publications and associated data in institutional or thematic open access repositories, simultaneously with the date of publication.

It is important to note that the ENCA establishes four strategic objectives: to ensure the existence of digital and interoperable infrastructures, to promote proper data management, to implement open and free access to publications and scientific results by default, to establish new evaluation mechanisms and recognition systems, and to train research staff in the principles of open science.

Astrágalo fulfils this strategy through idUS, the Research Repository of the University of Seville, as a digital infrastructure for open science, promoting the deposit of the institution's scientific production in it and facilitating open publication options at no cost through the management of transformative agreements. In addition, we offer support for proper research data management and deposit of datasets in idUS in compliance with the FAIR principles.

There are no charges to authors for submission of articles, nor for the processing required for scientific quality control.

Articles that pass the quality control process and are published by this journal will be placed in open access from the outset and will be freely available to the entire academic community. This contributes to a greater agility in the advancement of knowledge for a better service to society.
