The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

Code of Ethics

Astrágalo, cultura de la arquitectura y la ciudad, is committed to ensuring compliance with the ethical and deontological principles of the editorial process. The journal adopts as references the Code of Conduct for Journal Editors (COPE, 2011, 2019) [1], the White Paper on Promoting Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications (CSE, 2012) [2] and the Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers (COPE, 2018) (COPE, 2018) [3]. In addition, it has its own Ethics Committee.

Commitments

Concerning the Editorial Board

  • To publish the peer review process and the evaluation criteria for the acceptance or rejection of articles received.
  • To adopt the decision to accept or reject a manuscript taking as a reference the quality, relevance, pertinence, originality, clarity and suitability to the thematic lines of the journal.
  • To resolve possible conflicts or controversies that may exist in the evaluation process.
  • To ensure the quality of the articles published.
  • To notify stakeholders of corrections, clarifications, and apologies where necessary.
  • To adopt an anti-plagiarism policy and sanction any conduct (fabrication, falsification or omission of data and plagiarism) that violates the ethical and deontological principles of scientific research.

 

Concerning the Authors

  • To disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of your manuscript.
  • To disclose all sources of financial support received for the publication of the article.
  • To notify the Editor-in-Chief/Associate/Guest Editor of errors in text eligible for publication or when it has been published.
  • To adopt the editorial criteria of the journal.

Concerning the Reviewers

  • To notify the Editor-in-Chief/Associate/Guest Editor of the journal of any conflict of interest and refuse to evaluate manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.
  • To notify the Editor-in-Chief/Associate/Guest Editor of the suitability and/or availability to review a manuscript within the allotted timeframe.
  • To adopt the protocol for reviewers developed by the Editorial Board.
  • To prepare a reasoned report for the article that you consider unpublishable.

Editorial freedom and integrity

Concerning the Editorial Board

  • Assumes responsibility and authority for the content of the journal in accordance with the established editorial policy, preserving the Editor-in-Chief and Associate and Guest Editors from any external interference or pressure that could alter or condition the editorial policy of the journal.
  • It is committed to promoting and ensuring the integrity of publications throughout the editorial management process.
  • It applies anti-plagiarism measures (TURNITIN) and sanctions all those practices by members of the Editorial Board, authors or reviewers that violate the ethical principles assumed by the journal.
  • It has complete freedom in the development of the editorial process, within the limits established by the ethical principles and code of good practice to which the journal adheres.
  • Astrágalo has its own ethics committee, which will resolve any conflicts that may arise.

 

Concerning the Authors

  • Guarantee the originality of the published work and that it has not been published in other publications. The results derived from PhD Theses and other research work (e.g. Final Degree Projects, Final Master's Degree Projects) hosted in university repositories are considered unpublished and, therefore, original research.
  • By submitting any manuscript to the Editorial Board, you undertake to ensure that the material submitted is the product of your work, is unpublished and that the data has been obtained in an ethical manner.
  • To ensure authorship of the manuscript by properly citing the citations included in the manuscript. Authorship of an article is considered when: you have actively participated in: A) the conception and design, or analysis and interpretation of the data; B) the writing or drafting of the article; C) the critical revision of the relevant intellectual content; D) the supervision of the final version of the work to be published. Each author will have contributed sufficiently to the preparation of the article so that he/she can take public responsibility for the content of the article.
  • They undertake to faithfully reflect the attribution of authorship of the article, respecting the order of authorship. Researchers with minor contributions will be acknowledged in the acknowledgements.
  • To refrain from sending the article submitted to Astrágalo to another journal while it is in the evaluation process. In the event that you withdraw from the review process, you must notify the Editor-in-Chief as soon as possible.

Concerning the Reviewers

  • To refrain from using privileged information or insights gained through peer review to satisfy personal interests.
  • To request from the Editorial Board the protocols, records and sources of the original data held by the authors in the event that they wish to ratify the validity of the article submitted for review.
  • To prepare evaluation reports of articles with clarity, valid arguments, impartiality, honesty and respect.
  • To assume the evaluation of only those articles related to their field of specialisation.

To respect the deadlines set by the journal for the review of articles.

Transparency

Concerning the Editorial Board

  • To respond promptly and courteously to any complaints from authors, offering them a reasoned response at all times.
  • To notify authors of a brief description of the article evaluation process and provide a reasoned explanation, if any, for any changes in the evaluation process.
  • Duly inform the author at what stage of the editorial process the submitted text is at, as well as sending the evaluation reports of the peer reviewers.
  • The journal rejects editorial practices that violate the transparency and objectivity of the editorial process and opposes self-citations, quotations of exchange between groups of authors and citations that refer, without justification, to the journal.
  • To tend the article evaluation reports to the author for correspondence.
  • Notifying the reviewers of the final decisions on the publication of the article that has been evaluated by the person who assumes the role of Editor of each issue of the journal.
  •  To publish annually the number of articles submitted, accepted for publication in the journal, as well as those rejected.
  • To publish at the end of the calendar year, and with prior consent, the names of the persons who have acted as reviewers of the journal together with their institutional affiliation.

 

Concerning the Authors

  • To state the sources of research funding, including direct and indirect financial support, provision of equipment or materials or other support.

Concerning the Reviewers

  • To provide the Editorial Board with objective written information on the scientific assessment of the work.

Confidentiality

Concerning the Editorial Board and its Ethics Committee

  • To ensure that the information accompanying each manuscript or mail received is treated confidentially.
  • To refrain from disseminating information about the articles received, with the exception of the author for correspondence, reviewers, and associate editors.
  • To guarantee anonymity in the article evaluation process.

 

Concerning the Authors

  • To ensure that the identity of the researchers listed as authors of the article is protected, following the article submission protocol established by the journal.

Concerning the Reviewers

  • To refrain from disclosing the identity of authors. The journal applies a double-blind evaluation system that guarantees the anonymity of authors and reviewers.
