Peer Review

Peer review process

After the closing of the Call for Papers/Llamada a artículos period, the Management Committee will evaluate the suitability of the proposals submitted both for the subject matter and objectives of the journal and for the rules established for the writing of articles. Then, with the help of the Editorial and Scientific Committees, two reviewers of recognised prestige in the subject matter will be selected to carry out an evaluation using the double-blind system. The reviewers will carry out their considerations following the review templates and the criteria on Inclusive and non-sexist language. The anonymity of authors and reviewers will always be guaranteed in all exchanges of information. The article and the results of the double-blind peer review will be passed on to the Editorial Committee, which will decide, in the light of the reports issued, which papers will be published and, if appropriate, which will need to be reviewed and in what terms. If the two evaluators provide opposing assessments, a third assessment will be requested.

The results of the evaluation will be:

Publishable: accepted without modification.

Requires revision: publishable with minor modifications and without the need for a second evaluation.

Re-assessable: published with major modifications and requires a second assessment.

Not publishable.

In the eventuality that modifications are required, the author will receive the reviewers' reports. Together with the new version of the article, the author must send a justified response to these reports to the Editorial Committee. The new version will clearly identify the modifications and will be reviewed by the reviewers themselves.

Astrágalo urges reviewers to use friendly, conciliatory and constructive language in their reviews.

Astrágalo will publish a limited number of articles per volume and authors will request at the time of submission to which monograph they apply their article. However, it is up to the editorial committee to direct each article to the monograph it considers most appropriate to the one that is open at any given time. It should also be noted that, even if an article is accepted or is still under review, it may be postponed for publication in an issue other than the one in which the process began. It is at the author's discretion in this case, to withdraw the article or to accept to be published in one of the next issues.
