AUTENTICIDAD ÉTNICA, EMOCIONES DE EXALTACIÓN Y MOVIMIENTO TURÍSTICO: SIGNIFICADOS DE LA PRESENTACIÓN DE DANZA EN LA ENTRADA DE LA VIRGEN DE URKUPIÑA EN QUILLACOLLO, BOLIVIA

Resumen

Durante las décadas pasadas, la Entrada, o procesión religiosa de danza, en la cual rituales y eventos de la cosmología andina son expresados en la peregrinación de la Virgen de Urkupiña, se ha transformado en un espectacular evento que atrae turistas y bailarines desde todo Bolivia. Este articulo estudia los significados de la presentación de danza, para comprender como el turismo se interrelaciona con la peregrinación, y enfatiza las percepciones tanto del público como de los bailarines de la Entrada. Los aparentemente contrastantes conceptos análogos del espectáculo versus la autenticidad étnica, y del entretenimiento versus las emociones de exaltación, son analizados para retar las dicotómicas categorías de turistas y de peregrinos. Se demuestra como todos estos conceptos coexisten en una relación dinámica.
