SEXUALITY AS CULTURAL PRODUCT. A historical and psychosociological perspective

From historical and psychosocial perspectives, this article argues that sexuality is a basic instinct and, especially, a cultural product. I develop first a historical synthesis of the concept of the sex, from ancient Greece to our days. At the end of the 19th century, sexology originates and initiates the right to sexual health, opening a psychosocial perspective of sexuality. Sexuality in personal relations of couples and between genders also changes historically, corroborating this character of sexuality as a cultural product.Downloads
