Bibliometric Analysis, Evolution and Trends of Happiness Management in Scientific Literature

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of "Happiness management" in the scientific literature that has resulted in recent research growing from interest in aspects related to happiness management in the social and professional spheres. A systematic review of publications is done to examine the current situation in terms of scientific production, and to analyze the evolution and trends of happiness management as presented in the scientific literature. In addition, using the Scopus database and the VOS viewer software, records were obtained from which a bibliometric analysis was done. Standing out among the results is the positioning of Spain as a benchmark country in the international literature on "Happiness management", and the influence of COVID-19 on the spread and citation of publications. Scientific contributions on this subject and their influence on future research is a growing field of study and of interest in the improvement of quality of life and organizational well-being.

Author Biographies

Dolores Rando-Cueto, Universidad de Málaga, España

Dolores Rando-Cueto has a degree in Journalism and Advertising and Public Relations (University of Malaga, UMA) and a PhD in Communication (universities of Cadiz, Huelva, Malaga and Seville). Currently, she works as a teaching researcher in the field of Communication at the UMA, with articles published in indexed journals: JCR and Scopus Q1 and Q2. She participates in different research groups related to: communication and health -improving quality of life and well-being-; startups and female leadership; institutional communication; and open innovation. During the last two decades she has also worked as a reviewer for the journals International Environmental Research and Public Health, Children and Journal of Sustainable Tourism; head of the Communication Unit of the Regional Hospital of Malaga (Andalusian Health Service); and director of Languages and head of communication at the Victoria Foundation of Malaga.

José-Manuel Núñez-Sánchez, Universidad de Málaga, España

José M. Núñez-Sánchez holds a degree in Business Administration (1996) and an MBA (1997). He is currently attending the PhD Program in Economics and Business at the University of Malaga (Spain) where he works as an associate professor in the Department of Economics and Business Administration, in different Degrees such as Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or Commerce and Marketing.

Elena Fernández-Díaz, Universidad de Málaga, España

ELENA FERNÁNDEZ-DÍAZ. PhD in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Malaga, Spain. Her main lines of research are digital accessibility, digital marketing, social networks and online reputation. From 2016 to 2018 she combined her professional career in an advertising agency as an account manager with her teaching and research work. From October 2018 to the present she is a full-time lecturer at the University of Malaga. Among her latest published articles on digital accessibility is "Portuguese and Spanish DMO accessibility applications and websites" in Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research.

Carlos De-las-Heras-Pedrosa, Universidad de Málaga, España

CARLOS DE LAS HERAS-PEDROSA holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration and a PhD in Advertising and Public Relations. He is a professor in audiovisual communication and advertising at the University of Malaga. He currently teaches a course on Institutional Communication. He began his professional career in 1989 in the multinational Fiat Auto España S.A. where he worked as Regional Logistics Director. Subsequently, in 1991, he was hired by the multinational company D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles as Regional Director of Promotion and Advertising responsible for managing the account of Fiat Auto España S.A. The scope of his responsibility is framed within the regions of Andalusia and Valencia. Among his academic and management positions, he has been co-director of the Doctorate Program in Organizational Communication; director of the Master's Program in Communication and Tourism Management; and vice-dean of the Faculty of Communication. In addition, he has served as Academic Coordinator of the Exchange and Mobility Program (PIMA) of the University of Malaga; Deputy Director General of Communication, Protocol and Cabinet of the Rector. For eight years he has held the position of Vice Rector of Institutional Relations and Cabinet of the Rector of the University of Malaga. He is currently Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Strategic Management and Innovation in Communication. His research production revolves around three main lines: Tourism Communication, Health Communication and Institutional and Political Communication. The latter also develops aspects related to fundraising, as well as the image of institutions and their leaders. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Miami (USA) and at the universities of Sheffield, Cardiff, Leeds (UK) and Furtwangen (Germany). He has also been visiting professor at the Doctoral Program of the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) and at the Universities of Barinas, Zulia and Oriente (Venezuela).
