La literatura no sólo representa la identidad cultural de la comunidad donde surge como escritura artística institucionalmente aceptada y legitimada en cuanto tal, sino que produce identidad. Gran parte de la crítica literaria feminista señala la imposibilidad de separar la imaginación del yo de su colocación social. La discriminación de las mujeres se produce de manera individual y colectiva, deliberada e inconsciente pues está tejida en las costumbres y la tradición. Las mujeres enfrentan situaciones que no les impiden participar con plenitud en las sociedades donde viven. Este número indaga sobre las relaciones ente los sujetos literarios (personajes femeninos y autoras) y sus implicaciones políticas que muchas veces se manifestaron en activismos en movimientos sociales-culturales y, otras veces, en lucha o reivindicación de la libertad personal o los derechos.

Literature not only represents the cultural identity of the community where it emerges as institutionally accepted and legitimized artistic writing as such, but it also produces identity. Much of feminist literary criticism points to the impossibility of separating the imagination of the self from its social placement. Discrimination against women occurs individually and collectively, deliberately and unconsciously, as it is woven into customs and tradition. Women face situations that do not prevent them from participating fully in the societies where they live. This issue investigates the relationships between literary subjects (female characters and authors) and their political implications that often manifested themselves in activism in social-cultural movements and, other times, in the struggle or claim for personal freedom or rights.
