Research and Art and Education: intersecting dialogues with uncertainties

Abstract
The relationship between research and education is the subject of much discussion and conflicts especially, when we put art to tension in the game of investigative relations. To develop a reflection on the complexity of this relationship, I selected two aspects to guide the discussion: the first, goes through the institutionalization and expansion of the field of research in art and education in Brazil and second, the conceptual basis that has been based on research in art education, its epistemological and operational conflicts and, third, I dwell in more detail on the research based on the arts as a proper episteme that generates conflicts in the understanding of research in this area itself. All these questions are born from a trajectory as an undergraduate and graduate teacher in the area of visual arts in the context of Brazilian public education.
