Call for images for Visual Article #39

Title: Blurring the Boundaries | Exploring the Intersections Between Architectural Education and Professional Practice

The journal Astrágalo. Culture of Architecture and the City is now calling for submissions of images that will be included in the "Visual Article" of its official 2025 issue. This section, which interrupts and connects the written articles through a visual narrative, also serves as the cover image for the issue.
This issue reflects on the intersection between architectural education and professional practice, questioning what it truly means to be "real-world ready" and how both university education and industry must adapt to respond to the social, technological, and cultural changes facing future architects.

We invite you to submit images that visually represent this relationship between architecture, training, transfer to society, and professional practice, especially in relation to their spaces.

Images that represent the spaces of and for:

  • Professions practiced by architects that are not generically understood as architecture.
  • Places for transfer outside the classroom: street workshops, community spaces, coworking spaces , etc.
  • Architectures that do not appear to be such: ephemeral structures, minimal interventions, invisible processes.
  • Experimental or collaborative pedagogical practices.
  • Unconventional offices or workspaces.
  • Representations of tensions between training and professional reality.
  • Use of emerging technologies in teaching or practice (AI, BIM, AR, etc.).
  • Projects with social or community impact.
  • Images that highlight diversity, inclusion, and new ways of practicing architecture.

The selection will be based on photographic quality, semantic capacity, and degree of pedagogical innovation.

The selection, of approximately 15 images in total, will consist of one per author and is expected to provide a sample of what the authors understand about the relationship between spaces in the development of culture, and the transfer from the discipline and its teaching environment to society around the world.

Submission Deadline: [ September 10, 2025]
