La concepción corpuscular de la materia. Obstáculos epistemológicos y problemas de aprendizaje

La teoría atómico-molecular se introduce en nuestro sistema educativo al comenzar el ciclo superior de la E.G.B (11-12 años). Diversos autores señalan las dificultades que, aún en niveles superiores e incluso en alumnos bien dotados, existen en la adquisición de una concepción discontinua de la materia, pese a la evidencia de una cierta familiaridad con conceptos y representaciones corpusculares. Ello se debe, a nuestro juicio, a que algunas de estas representaciones tienen una base epistemológica distinta, siendo compatibles con una visión de la realidad basada en lo perceptual y macroscópico. Esta hipótesis, surgida a través de varias experiencias preliminares, es contrastada empíricamente en una amplia muestra de alumnos de EE.MM. Finalmente, formulamos algunas sugerencias para una introducción más adecuada de la teoría atómico-molecular.
