The demand for tourists by Spanish communities varies every year, and consumer tourism is increasing in popularity. The objective of this study is to analyze the consumption generated by domestic and foreign tourists within Spanish communities between 2002 and 2019. Data analysis is performed using the KNN nearest neighbor algorithm, and a clustering analysis is used to identify tourism consumption in which 68% accuracy is obtained when classifying the data. The results indicate that the group of international tourists with potential consumption opts for communities in the central-northern peninsula and central-western Mediterranean during the summer. National tourists have a continuous and permanent consumption in communities such as Madrid, Basque Country, Aragón, Castilla de la Mancha, Castilla y León, Galicia and Valencia. In general terms, tourist demand is high for destinations such as the Balearic and Canary Islands, as well as the Mediterranean coast, which are crucial for tourist satisfaction.
