Optimism is an absolute need

Abstract

In times when it seems that it is not possible to have hope, it is more necessary than ever. Angela Davis pricked our will and ideology and shook us emotionally by making us reflect on the need for optimism in the face of reality. Not far away is the historical imperative, which Paulo Freire proposed, of treasuring hope in educational contexts. The arts and their expressive and reflective possibilities allow us to row in that line of optimism, of change, of historical need for social transformation: whether for their ironic, activist or subversive boldness.
