Optimism is an absolute need

Abstract

In times when it seems that it is not possible to have hope, it is more necessary than ever. Angela Davis pricked our will and ideology and shook us emotionally by making us reflect on the need for optimism in the face of reality. Not far away is the historical imperative, which Paulo Freire proposed, of treasuring hope in educational contexts. The arts and their expressive and reflective possibilities allow us to row in that line of optimism, of change, of historical need for social transformation: whether for their ironic, activist or subversive boldness. Be it for its richness and reflective, cognitive and emotional power. Whatever the case may be. In this publication we continue to believe that there is no other way of being and inhabiting the world than by denouncing, deconstructing, reflecting on and transforming the contexts of discrimination, oppression and horror, working for democracy. And today more than ever: to be allowed to live in peace. Let there be an end to the 56 existing war conflicts in our world. Stop the bloody war in Palestine.
