Plastic artistic education from creative self-expression to take care of diversity in the classroom
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the usefulness of creative self-expression to build inclusive learning environments. Therefore, a review of the specialized literature on educational attention to diversity and artistic education is carried out. After examining the educational needs of students, especially those of students with low functional performance, artistic education is presented as a valuable subject to work on this diversity. More specifically, it delves into the approach proposed by Viktor Lowenfeld and Herbert Read, called creative self-expression. This methodology perceives art as a means of expression for the infant, transcending the trivial reproduction of aesthetic references. Being an intellectual activity, artistic expression favors the development of self-esteem and autonomy of the subject. Furthermore, the child is responsible for its creation, turning teachers into facilitators of learning, who must generate and preserve an auspicious environment for education. It is concluded that creative self-expression is an approach to artistic education that can improve attention to diversity and thus promote socio-educational inclusion.
