Creation and creativity in arts teaching/learning with contemporary technology
Main Article Content
Abstract
The search for technologies that can assist and register ideas, thoughts and emotions is not particular to the 21st century. There are various possibilities for the use of technologies – whether old or new – with respect to images (visual, gestural, sonic, oral etc.); and this applies both to the teaching and learning of art and to facilitating artistic creation. It is necessary to consider how technology can contribute to the elaboration of a creative art project, including the teaching-and-learning aspect, and how to include new technologies at the heart of it in a continuous, symbiotic creative process. In the area of Imaginative Cognition, creativity in the arts is intrinsically linked to the imagination; the teaching and learning takes place through metaphor. Consideration is given, in this article, to the theory of Imaginative Cognition and to the involvement of contemporary technologies in both teaching and artistic practice, in the light of the fundamental role that creativity plays with respect to artistic thought.
