As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published nor is it being considered in parallel by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The file is in .odt, .doc, .docx or .rtf format.
  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • The text keeps all tables placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end. Images/figures (JPG 150 dpi) should be numbered and inserted in the text itself. The photo/figure caption should be included as indicated in the template.
  • The text has to the stylistic and biliographic requirements outlined in the author's guidelines, which appear in About the Journal.

1. TOPICS TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE JOURNAL

Proposals submitted for evaluation should focus on the following topics:

  • Art education.
  • Critical artistic pedagogies.
  • Politics, social education and its links with the arts.
  • Arts education for development.
  • Theory, criticism and production of the arts and image.
  • New educational modes and spaces for the arts.
    Arts -in their different disciplines (cinema, music, painting, etc.)- and their social and/or educational relations.
  • Digital critical culture.
  • Non-hegemonic cultures and their educational connections.
  • Creativity and intercreativity in relation to visual, audiovisual and digital culture.
  • Critical education, Equality, Gender, Feminisms and artistic links.
  • Knowledge Commons and Free Culture.
  • Contemporary arts and educational links.

In addition, each issue of the journal may include a thematic monograph coordinated by one or more specialists in a subject.

The journal is oriented towards people interested, researchers and professionals in the above-mentioned subjects and areas of knowledge.

 


2. TYPOLOGY OF PUBLICATIONS

  • ARTICLES: original research papers, as well as exercises of scientific analysis and reflection. Blind peer review - a first review response within 45 days of submission.

  • PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKS: quality works that also contribute to the advancement of knowledge. Review by the editorial board - a first review response of maximum 45 days from submission of proposal.

  • DOCUMENTS FOR 'REMIX ZONE': proposals of works of international prestige and with open license that have already been published in other media and that allow their free and open reproduction in our journal. Likewise, reviews of books on subjects related to the magazine and audiovisual works are also accepted. Review by the editorial board - a first review response within 45 days from the date the proposal is sent.

 


3. STYLE, STRUCTURE AND TEMPLATE RULES

  • PROPOSAL FOR ARTICLES:
    • The article proposal should be submitted through the OJS system and must be in the format of the template (it can be .odt or .docx) that can be downloaded below, in the section on article typology (research or reflection).
    • Language: articles in Spanish, Portuguese or English are accepted.
    • We recommend a length of no more than 6000 words, excluding author biography data, but including references, footnotes, abstracts, keywords and title+authors. There may be exceptions depending on the quality of the work.
    • The rules for references and bibliographic citations will follow APA standards (follow the following guidelines: BIBLIOGRAPHY AND CITATIONS: APA).
    • The possible images used in the proposal of an article, when they are not self-created and/or do not maintain a Creative Commons license, will always be subject to article 32. Citations and reviews and illustration for educational or scientific research purposes of the Spanish LPI.
    • Images/figures (JPG 150 dpi) should be numbered and inserted in the text itself. The photo/figure caption should be included as indicated in the template.
    • The author allows and assumes that by participating in the journal, the publication of his/her article will be under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license (if the author wants to use a more open Creative Commons license for his/her contribution, he/she must explicitly state it in the proposal document; if he/she does not state it, the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license will be applied by default).

          - Institutional affiliation.
          - E-mail address.
          - ORCID number.

          Repeat this information for each author participating in the article.

        • 2) Document in .odt or .docx format with abstracts and keywords in different languages. Content:

          - Title of the paper, in bold capital letters (in Spanish, Portuguese and English).
          - Abstract in Spanish, English and Portuguese, between 200 and 250 words each.
          - Keywords: 6 concepts (in each language: Spanish, English and Portuguese).

        • 3) Text document of the article (download a template below). Development of the article (in Spanish, English or Portuguese). According to its modalities:

          a) Structure of the development, if it is a RESEARCH ARTICLE:

  • PROPOSAL OF PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKS/IMAGES:

    • The proposal of images will be sent through the OJS system (in the uploading of the file the competent of the article "OTHER" must be selected) and prescriptively with the format of the template that can be downloaded in this link: template of proposal of publication of images.

    • The proposal is sent as when it will be made as of photographic work must be unpublished and its theme must be related to the themes of the thematic monograph.

    • The author allows and assumes that by participating in the journal, the publication of his/her work will be under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license (if the author wants to use a more open Creative Commons license for his/her contribution, he/she must explicitly state it in the proposal document; if he/she does not state it, the Creative Commons By-NC-SA license will be applied by default).

  • PROPOSAL OF DOCUMENTS FOR 'REMIX ZONE':
    • We propose the possibility of disseminating open works already published, of internationally recognized authorship, whose license so permits. Those interested in disseminating them should send a URL link for downloading and indicate the type of license to which the work to be disseminated is subject. Articles in Spanish, English or Portuguese are accepted. It is recommended that these documents be between 3000 and 5000 words. The sending of this link will be made directly to our journal's email: revistacommuniars@us.es and not through the OJS system.
    • It is also possible to publish reviews of books or audiovisual works of interest to the subject matter of our journal. This is sent through the OJS system. Approximately 1,500 words.
    • The author allows and assumes that by participating in the journal, the publication of his/her article will be under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA license (if the author wants to use a more open Creative Commons license for his/her contribution, he/she must state it explicitly in the proposal document; if he/she does not review it, the Creative Commons By-NC-SA license will be applied by default).
