Héctor Rojas Herazo (1921-2002) stands as one of the most representative figures of Colombian letters and arts of the 20th century. His legacy in journalism, as well as his extensive narrative, poetic, and pictorial work, position him in a highlighted place within the references that marked an entire generation of freethinkers among whom it is worth mentioning Gabriel García Márquez and many others. With a unique style, in which existentialist elements were notable, but also ideological, his time in journalism in different Colombian newspapers has been the subject of countless studies and academic works. This article seeks to make an approximation to the idea of journalism present in Rojas Herazo, and the role of culture in that idea, through a detailed collection of primary sources such as interviews granted in life, as well as references from authors and other sources, using the case study as a methodological guide. It is possible to determine, therefore, that the characteristics of his style and his legacy for Ibero-American letters will make him a reference of great value for future generations of cultural journalists.
