About the Journal

El Pájaro de Benín. Vanguardias y Últimas Tendencias Artísticas is a scientific journal, founded in 2017 by the Investigation Group Vanguardias, Últimas Tendencias y Patrimonio Artístico (HUM. 1030), housed in the Faculty of Geography and History of the University of Seville.

It is dedicated to the investigation of the History of Contemporary Art, both in its international manifestations and the contributions of the different Andalusian and national contexts. It is aimed at the scientific and university community, both national and international, and at Art professionals in all its facets, from the historical field to the theoretical and aesthetic approaches. Its periodicity is annual, publishing unpublished articles previously evaluated through the blind peer system.

Until 2021, the works published in the Journal responded to the invitation to young people who were studying and who were beginning to carry out their first research work, accompanying these texts with articles by members of the Research Group. Since the reception of this magazine by the Editorial of the University of Seville, in 2022, it is open to scientific and professional research.

The issues of the Journal may be, totally or partially, monographic. In the Journal there will be a fixed section of critical reviews of recently published books, both of a theoretical-methodological nature and referring to the object of research in this journal.
