Abstract
ABSTRACT:
In an attempt to establish a system to assess university master programs, such as they are organised currently, in this article we describe an evaluation model focused on this aim. This model has been elaborated not only as a consequence of an in-depth evaluation of postgraduate programs offered at the University of Seville, but also as the result of the revision of several researches whose main aim is to assess university postgraduate programs, especially, practice-oriented masters. The model here presented tries to answer the central questions of any evaluation process: what, who, when and how evaluate. Consequently, the model spans six dimensions: necessities, design of the program, process or implementation, results, impact and management. For each of these categories we specify the objectives of evaluation, areas or aspects, information sources, data gathering procedures and data analysis techniques. It is a very wide model that can be adjusted to the characteristics of a specific context or knowledge area, modifying, adding or eliminating the convenient aspects.
