Abstract

Andrés Ramírez is a late 16 th-century painter and illuminist uhose work is so far unknown. His acquaintance and friendship with sculpter Roque Balduque, the similarities of his own images to those of Esturmio (with whom he collaborated for 20 years) and also the great resemblance of his own illuminations to the paintings on the altarpiece Saint Anne at the Holy Assumption Church in Alcalá del Río, make it possible to attribute the painting of the aforementioned Saint Anne altarpiece to him.
