AI and Bodily Representation: Imagining New Corporalities through Critical Design
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article begins with the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to explore the conflicts that arise between its use and the representation and recognition of bodies and identities, particularly those that diverge from cis-heteronormativity. Firstly, the text contextualises the conception of the body over the past century and its current binary configuration, with the aim of challenging its apparent neutrality. Secondly, it analyses the application of AI in disciplines where its use may reinforce inequalities and generate discriminatory situations. Thirdly, DiffusionBee is presented as a critical tool capable of subverting this narrative through prototyping within critical design, resulting in a performative video. Fourthly, the results are presented in order to open a debate on the design and use of AI. Finally, the article concludes by stressing the need to expose the limitations and biases of these technologies within educational and design contexts—not only to prevent discriminatory use, but also to promote democratic and transparent processes in which this technology can have a positive impact.
