Treatment of crime and events information on TV shows. Journalistic analysis of "La Mañana", "El Programa de Ana Rosa" and "Espejo Público"

Abstract

This research paper carries out a journalistic analysis about the treatment of the news of crime and events on TV shows La Mañana (TVE), El Programa de Ana Rosa (Telecinco) and Espejo Público (Antena 3). The study focuses on the description of various aspects of such informations on the broadcasts of those TV shows during 2018. Each of the shows analyzed offers diverses treatments that define their informative style, although the scheme of all of them is very similar, including live connections and abuse of talk shows. The news of crime and events have been studied preferably, including also the court informations. The results indicate that these matters have a great relevance in the three morning TV shows, especially in the public TV one, since in the private TV shows the informations on politics and gossip are gaining more and more prominence in their contents.
