This article deals with the sculpture of "Jesús del Mayor Dolor" in the city of Écija (Sevilla), a work made by Lorenzo Cano in 1814. It represents the moment in which Christ, after the flagellation, is untied from the column. Our Lord is represented blood-stained, creeping on the ground, trying to get his robe. This is a subject frequently traeted in the ltalian iconography of the 15th century and enthutiasticaly accepted by the Spanish painter of the XVIIth century, like Pacheco, Zurbarán and Murillo.
