This is a critical study of the importany work of the English researcher Harold Wethey, highligh­ting its indubitably positive aspects, but also pointing out its deficiencies. The study is completed by an updating of the research carried out since the year the book was published -1949) presenting not only subsequent bibliography, but also ali the sources which have appeared to date, both docu­mentary and archetectural.
