Abstract

Argentine film output was not immune to the profound economic crisis that impacted on the country in the 90s. Films did not stop being made, however, and the incorporation of digital technology to the production system was an alternative that enabled costs to be kept down. This process benefitted significantly from the spread of the work of Danish directors adhering to the Dogme 95 manifesto. This article reports on those transformations, with special reference to Dogme rules and its influence on the aesthetics and narrative of Argentine cinema of the period.
