The tree as a creator of a discourse. A pictorial and installation review in the arts

Abstract
The tree has a link with any culture on earth from a mystical or religious aspect to the fact that it supplies society thanks to its multiple natural properties of oxygen for life, fruit, wood, combustion, even resin from which a variety of products are obtained. Research addresses an artistic and healing sense of the tree as an icon of nature from various approaches. Proven benefits have made the tree an inseparable element in the arts since ancient times. We analyze a series of examples that use the tree as a fundamental element in their compositions in an existing relationship between the tree, the visual arts and the public, accompanied by aesthetic signs and energy channels that nature itself possesses, whose artistic creation, whether from an imaginative or natural prism, exerts an undeniable therapeutic connection. Trees are linked to people as powerful and vulnerable allies, although unlike people, they cannot escape and are bound to their place, but the arts have been able to approach them, even transform them from their own visual universe to any corner of the world. Both painting and art installation offer a disparity of interests that we try to categorize in a complex and winding history of abundant representations over time with a shorter journey in the installation that begins after the middle of the 20th century, existing in both a commitment to this natural and of course visual symbol.
