La investigación sobre historia de la prensa se ha convertido en las últimas décadas en una de las parcelas más atractivas a la hora de abordar las propuestas científicas centradas en el estudio de la comunicación social, en lo más variopinto de sus manifestaciones y desde todos los enfoques posibles; entre los que desta- ca, en consonancia con el libro reseñado, el propuesto por la disciplina histórica. El interés despertado entre expertos procedentes del ámbito de la historia o de la comunicación sobre esta esfera del conocimiento no carece de motivos, desde el momento en que la prensa –las publicaciones periódicas de todo tipo, variedad y temática– se convierte en una de las herramientas más fructíferas cuando se trata de abordar el conocimiento de la evolución histórica de las diversas comunidades sociales.
