Abstract

We offer for the first time, after its localization in the notarial protocols section of the Provincial Historical Arhive of Seville, the complete transcription of the contract awarded in 1657 by Pedro Roldán (1624-1699) for the realization of the sculpture of the archangel Saint Michael that presides over the parish that is dedicated to him in the Sevillian towm of Marchena. The analysis of the document offers valuable information that complements what has already been studied about this image, which is among the first pieces documented and preserved by the aforementioned master sculptor in the capital of Seville.
