This essay undertakes the study of the double portrait of the Infantas María Cristina and María Mercedes painted by the Seville romantic artist Manuel Cabra! Bejarano in 1877 at the San Telmo Palace. María Mercedes has just received a visit from her cousin and fiancé King Alfonso XII. Wat is mainly interesting about this work is its style, a synthesis of the traditional Seville regional romanticism and the sophisticated Fortunian manner.
