The representation of Hercules with two lions in heráldica attitude, from which the shield of Cadiz comes, was created for a miniature of the Estoria de España de Alfonso X; the iconographics precedents demonstrate that its origin is in the old representations of the prophet Daniel, that have also caused sorne later transformations until arriving at the present image of the shield of Andalusia.
