A few fi fteenth-century manuscripts from Seville may help us understand the evolution and development of illuminations. Those dated in the fi rst half of the century still present miniatures and miniaturists who are indebted to France and the French tradition, while those from the second half of that century show far brighter, more dynamic and colourful elements, which are characteristic features of what has been regarded as the Sevillian miniature school.
