LOS CANTEROS DE LA OBRA GÓTICA DE LA CATEDRAL DE SEVILLA (1433-1528)

Abstract

To achieve a deeper understanding of Spanish Gothic architecture a wide investigation is needed about its builders (mostly stonemasons) and their activities. If we could learn more about their apprenticeship and technique, their composition planning, craftwork details and technical solutions could be better explained. The publication of data about these itinerant craftsmen, would permit to discover relations­hips among building sites and suggest new hypotheses. Whith this intention, we publish a list of the documented stonemasons of the Cathedral of Seville, adding a short introductory essay.
