Illustrations are not merely artistic in nature, they are also a reflection of reality; with this in mind, a typo-bibliographical study of sixteenth century prints from the Bibliotheca Colombina in Seville is used to analyse interesting and little-known pictorial evidence of fifteenth and sixteenth century religious customs in the Mediterranean area.
