LA ENTRADA EN LIMA DEL VIRREY D. GARCÍA HURTADO DE MENDOZA, MARQUÉS DE CAÑETE*

The arrival of a new viceroy in the capital of Peru was always an occasion for great festivities and temporay constructions. The appointment being particulary important, since his father, D. Andrés, had held the same post. On the edge of the city a great triumphal arch was raised, a description of which is offered in this paper; reference is also made to the expenses met by the Town Council as a result of these celebrations.
