Abstract

This article offers a brief account of the work and achievements of the Andalusian museums of Modern Art, in particular that of the city of Seville; it reports on its interest in the acquisition of works by contemporary artists, and explains how the museum's purchases have led to a deeper and more widespread knowledge of these artists. In addition, mention is made of sorne of the galleries which have played an important role in the discovery of new modern artists.
