George Egerton fue una escritora en lengua inglesa controvertida pero muy popular en los años finiseculares. Perteneció al fenómeno denominado “Nueva Mujer”, formado por artistas que situaron a la mujer en el centro de sus obras. Egerton creó un nuevo tipo de heroína, moderna y poco convencional, y un nuevo tipo de narrativa anticipando el feminismo y el modernismo en literatura.
Abstract
George Egerton was a controversial, though very popular writer of the English fiction at the fin de siècle. She belonged to the so called “New Woman” a phenomenon, formed by female artists who placed woman at the center of their works. Egerton created a new type of heroine, modern and unconventional, and new type of fiction anticipating feminism and modernism in literature.
