RELIGIOUS POETRY OF CAROLINA CORONADO

Abstract

Carolina Coronado belongs to the first generation of romantic writers. In 1852 he published the enlarged reissue of his first collection of poems. This book included poems that had appeared in the newspapers of the time and others that had been silenced by the author herself for their love content. On this date, due to the good reception of the public and the encouragement of Juan Eugenio Hartzenbusch and also to the circumstance of the death of the man to whom those poems were dedicated, the poet included the poems that she had jealously guarded up to that moment. This zeal should not be strange, since the authors of this period faced hostility on many occasions from sectors that did not accept the incorporation of women into the literary scene.
