Guidelines for submitting manuscripts
All processes related to the submission of manuscripts and their editorial management, including communication between authors and editors, are conducted through the OJS platform. Submissions made through other channels will not be accepted.
Sections
Manuscripts may be submitted under the following categories:
- Articles: These will be original research papers with a maximum length of approximately 15,000 words. They will be reviewed by at least two evaluators.
- Reviews: These will be critical evaluations of previously published monographs and collective works, as well as summaries of significant updates from scientific events. The maximum length will be 3,000 words. Authors and/or editors wishing to submit their works for review must send two copies to the journal: one for the reviewer and another for the Humanities Library of the University of Seville. The editorial team will select works that are of the highest interest, relevance, and timeliness for review and will assign their evaluation to specialist researchers.
- Short reports: These will have a maximum length of approximately 7,500 words and will cover updates on research projects and novel or significant topics. They will be reviewed by at least two evaluators.
- Letters to the Editor: With a maximum length of 1,500 words. They will also be subject to review.
- Corrections: updates or amendments to previously published articles in the journal.
Registration
Registering and logging into the OJS editorial management platform is necessary to submit items online and check the status of active submissions. Go to Log in if you already have an account or Register a new account.
Initially, only the corresponding author needs to be registered to make a submission. However, if the work is accepted for publication, all co-authors must be registered as users on the platform.
All co-authors of an accepted manuscript must link their ORCID profile to the OJS platform. Without this, the final publication of the article cannot proceed. It is recommended that all authors follow the instructions provided in this guide.
Pre-submission checklist
As part of the process, authors must ensure that their submission meets all the requirements and includes all the elements listed below. The editorial process will not begin until all documentation is complete.
- The submission has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
- Form 1 and Form 2 have been completed.
- The text file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format.
- The text is single-spaced, in 12-point font, and italicized text is used instead of underlining (except for URLs).
- The text does not exceed the length specified for each section.
- The text file is anonymized, without personal data or any other information that could identify the authorship.
- All formal aspects outlined in the style guide have been followed.
- Figures and tables are numbered independently and are explicitly referenced in the text.
- Whenever possible, URLs are provided for bibliographic references (DOI and access pages).
Documentation to be submitted
- Anonymized main text, meaning it should not include explicit author information or any direct details that could identify the authors.
- List of figures and tables.
- Figures provided separately in individual files.
- Tables compiled in a single text document (Word or editable text file).
- Form 1 (Manuscript & author information).
- Form 2 (Responsible declaration).
Supplementary material
Supplementary information may be added to the main article. This is understood as additional materials that support the results of the study, but are not included in the main manuscript. They may be published together with the article as a downloadable appendix, or they may be linked (URL) to institutional and/or scientific repositories available online and in open access. The formats accepted for complementary data may be texts, tables, graphs and images, as well as any information that can be transformed into a pdf file, in the case of taking the form of an appendix. It will be sent following the same guidelines as the rest of the materials related to the article.
