Abstract

In his Pythian Ode VIII, the Greek poet Pindar describes the man as the ‘dream of a shadow’. We recognize that this vision of man, which inspires various forms of idealism, is fundamentally a poetic sight, a metaphor forged under the light of the consciousness of infinite that overwhelms all human beings feeling as part of an incomprehensible whole. And we cannot fail to recognize as well that, like other metaphorical forms, is so extremely inspiring as to lead us to admit that while the notion of ‘being human in the world’ is problematic, it is even more problematic the possibility of considering our mental productions real.
