Abstract

La Palma Island (Canary Is.) received between XVI and XVIII centuries, many artistic works coming from sevillian workshops. The establishment in Seville of outstanding members of the insular dominant class, facilitated these contacts. This is the case of Don Pedro Massieu y Monteverde, hearer and senior of sevillian Royal Audience, during the eighteen century fi rst half. Here we study his intermediation in order to contract and send to La Palma two marble blazons belonging to the Massieu´s family houses, and a Salvador's  sculpture standing in the main parish church at Santa Cruz de La Palma. Perhaps these pieces were made at Cayetano de Acosta's workshop.
