AROUND «VULCAN´S FORGE» OF VELÁZQUEZ. NEW CONTRIBUTIONS TO ITS INTERPRETATION

Abstract

On this article we wish interpret Vulcan´s Forge of Velázquez like an early manifest of painting’s liberal steem, intimately bond with the painter´s life and professional development, such as Meninas´ meaning shows. So, we implement a cheking of the literary and illustrated sources, which had infl uence on the work like Historia Naturalis of Plinio, Philosphia secreta of Pérez de Moya or Juan de la Cueva´s poem, together with homonymus works of Tintoretto, Rubens or Tiziano.
