SIMULATION AT CONTEMPORARY ART: CREATING IDENTITIES IN THE SCREEN ERA

The building of the individual’s identity is inevitably connected to its relationship with screens in our era which is defined by technological advances. While screens facilitate an instantaneous access to information and open new models of interaction, these devices can also contribute to the alienation of human subjects. This article defines identities that are commonly adopted while working with a screen, and faces Jean Baudrillard’s theories which defend the unnecessary presence of the human body after the Technological Revolution. The conclusions of this article are intended to justify precisely this argument: contemporary art is seen today as an innovative tool able to build new identities linked to relationships between humans and the surrounding space.
