Though documental by Villamil at the end of the 19th century, the investigations developed in parallel to the works of restoration, they have contributed new news that alow to know better his contructive process, as well interventions that it has suffered throughout the time. Of these, the most significant was realized after the Spanish Civil War, by incorporating the friezes of the Santa Librada fence was destroyed during the contest. At the same time, the location of new documents they allow to extend the news that were had on his authors, the gatekeeper Juan Fracés and painters Pedro de Villanueva and Francisco Piregrina, and reconstruct the history and different stages of construction and decoration of the chapel Parish of San Pedro.
