Abstract

In this paper, it is analyzed the demand for adultery that against the quiteño painter Manuel Samaniego (ca. 1767-1824) were presented by his wife Manuela Jurado, at the end of 1797 . An account of the judicial process is presented, as well as the reconstruction of the events based in the documentation that picks up the different data provided by both parts. Also, the artistic aspects that emerge along the process are shown.
